Smashing Floods Experiment!
Students worked in groups to create a flood proof design to save their houses. Students were given materials such as: clay, straws, tape, Popsicle sticks, rocks, and sand. They had two days to create a design, two days to build and perfect their design, and then on Friday we tested each team's design. This project was messy and a bit wild, but the students LOVED it and engagement was super high! This project went with our weather and climate science unit.
3-5-ETS1-3 Plan and carry out fair tests in which variables are controlled and failure points are considered to identify aspects of a model or prototype that can be improved.
